Spring 2003 Litter Gallery
Since our Giant Schnauzer litter and Dobermann litter were born on the SAME DAY, we have decided to create one puppy gallery for our candid shots. The litters will largely be raised together other than specific puppy testing, when they will be monitored within their own litter (breed).
We hope you will enjoy the photos of these 19 little boys and girls as they grow up!
This package didn't quite arrive in time for the whelping, however the goodies from our dear friend Valerie in British Columbia were still VERY appreciated!
As a co-midwife, Valerie knows the importance of a complete whelping kit! Plenty of snacks, alcohol, rubber gloves, video tape and a little supplement for the pups and their moms!
Valerie, you are a TRUE Professional! :-)))

Rein settles in to her whelping box with her nine newborns!
The white dots on their backs represent their birth order. The dots wear off in a few days and are then replaced with coloured collars.
Blitz rests between pups, this little one has had a snack...
...and heads to mom for a bath!
Blitz had a long labour and nurses her pups while waiting for the next one to be born.
A couple weeks later with vigorous pups in her whelping box. Right next door to the Giant Schnauzer family!
"Red Girl" is now wearing her coloured collar, although her spots are still visible.
Snuggled up to mom for a nap, these little ones don't do much more than eat, sleep and grow.
Rein has been an excellent mom, careful where she places herself.
Spots are fading, tails have been docked and dewclaws removed.
Blitz's litter docked and dewclaws removed.
Blitz's first born girl, her head is smaller than mom's paw!
Belly up, boys and girls!
"What's in this for me???"
"Can I get out of here yet??"
"Okay, if I show you how to eat like a big dog, then I won't have to feed you anymore!"
Blue Girl is catching on quick!
"Aack!! This stuff is hard AND cold!!"
From the milk counter....
...to the mush counter!
At 21 days the weaning process begins with puppy kibble soaked in hot water and supplemented with milk replacer.
