Don’t take our word for it! Here is what our puppy owners and students have to say!

Working line Giants are not that easy to come by. The breeders are scarce, and it is at times extremely hard to reach those who exist. Some will not reply to emails, others would ignore phone calls; in a way, searching for that perfect puppy can turn into a quest where, like in a sport of IGP, a prospective owner has to demonstrate perseverance, persistence, and stamina.
Tammy and Ron are very approachable, always happy to chat and willing to educate new owners about the characteristics of the breed. They health-test and title their dogs, and their rearing practices are nothing but exemplary – the puppies are exposed to sounds, surfaces, smells, toys; they get to spend time outside and with adult dogs; and they get to meet people of all ages.
As for the dog itself, I believe that Tammy and Ron made a great match for me and my family. I wanted an easy-going, happy dog, who would be safe around children and strangers, and yet would have enough drive to participate in protection sports. And this is exactly the dog that I got – Leidenschaft’s Orca is all that and then some. She possesses an outstanding sense of humor, the ability to solve complex problems by offering rather unexpected solutions. Training her is never boring, as she is a highly intelligent dog who quickly figures out all my little tricks. She has a great work ethics and never gives up. Her willingness to please is enormous, which sometimes hinders with the progress of executing exercises that demand focus and endurance – her whole body vibrates of excitement when she knows that she is doing something right!
Orca is a dog that can go with us anywhere – from off-leash hikes in the forest to crowded buses and a ferry in Toronto. She does so confidently, happily, and never gets tired of exploring new environments. Whatever you throw at her, she takes with excitement about learning what this new thing might be.
As any dog, she has some weird quirks which I find funny and amusing. For instance, she loves shower. I have never met a dog who would choose to spend time in a shower cabin without a prompt. Orca just sneaks there and sits – not sure if that is something she considers an act of rebellion or that it is cooler there. Another interesting thing about her is the way she nibbles on us when we walk into a door. Finally, she uses her front paws as if they were functional arms. She “touches” things with a paw, she opens doors with a paw, she demands attention by poking you with a paw, and if you are silly enough to play dead near her, be assured that you will get a paw kick in your face. Oh, and guess how her recall happens? That’s right, by slamming into you with her two feet without bothering to slow down. Ouch.
Tammy and Ron are great breeders and I always direct anyone inquiring about a working-line Giant towards them. Honestly, look no further.

We are an active, busy family with tween children and a grumpy, 14 year old miniature Schnauzer who is our everything. In searching for a new family member, we had impossible prerequisites. We wanted a big dog that was low shedding. He had to be energetic enough to play with our children and run longer distances with us outdoors, but cuddly and gentle when indoors. We wanted a confident, intelligent dog, but one that would not be ‘too much dog’ for us. I reluctantly contacted Tammy who asked many questions about our family and life and suggested a puppy with less dominance. It feels like we cheated somehow, as Ron and Tammy delivered all of that to us when they flew Lego across Canada to join our family.
Our Lego is EXACTLY what Ron and Tammy said he would be. I have no idea how they could have known his temperament so accurately at such a young age. We’ve never met them, but somehow they knew that Lego was perfect for us and Tammy has always been a message away when we have questions. Lego loves all the exercise he gets with us and we love cuddles from our gentle giant. Even our grumpy Mini seems more active and playful since Lego arrived. He is loyal, loving, energetic and to top it all off…he is absolutely gorgeous!

Giant’s have been my choice for 20 years. Some I have bred, others came into our home via breeders. My experience with Ron and Tammy Murray has be nothing but STELLAR! I recently drove 21 hours in the dead of winter for a selection from the their current breeding. Linus. An exceptional puppy. I could have shipped without concern, but a 21 hour drive into the hinterland with my best friend was on my bucket list.
Giants are special. They require attention. They require love. They require patience. If you have these to give you’ll never want for a better companion, friend, or protector. Our last Leidenschaft dog, Gaius, was a loving member of our farm family for nearly a decade. Remember: you get what you pay for. Quality and care are just a part of the Leidenschaft experience.

We searched for breeders with the training philosophy we expected in a high performing working Giant Schnauzer for over two years. Ron and Tammy delivered a dog who has been everything and more.
Shipping to the U.S. was not too complicated, our biggest challenge was finding an airport that met the temperature specifications for shipping in June. We ended up driving from New Mexico to San Diego Ca. to pick her up. Due to shipping delays she arrived at midnight. We fed her, washed her and put her to bed, but she was up and rearing to go by six am. We took her to a dog park with a full agility course. A class had just finished when we took the field. Kwest confidently went over the A frame, bridges, into the tunnels, over the teter, and took the 1/2 meter jump with ease. Several people in the class asked where we trained and how long Kwest had been competing…it was difficult to convince them we had just received our puppy six hours ago and had never trained with her.
She had lunch in an outdoor restaurant with us later that day and behaved with perfect manners. Late that night she met our house cat and immediately understood that the cat is not prey.
We started our formal schutzhund training with Kwest, seven months ago. Kwest is exceptional in her bite work, and excels in tracking. Last weekend she passed her BH and amazed everyone by getting her first tracking certification, she passed the IFH-V track despite her handler having no experience and loosing points for the team due to technical errors (sorry Kwest, I will do better next time). After we finished all the competitors (three of whom got zeros) asked why we did such a hard track for our first trial. They equated it to skipping grade school, high school ,and going directly to college. All I could tell them was “I knew she could do it.”
Schutzhund books all tell you: get a good dog from a reliable breeder. We have a great dog thanks to Ron and Tammy. She started training when she could barely crawl, and she loves training. She is exceptionally intelligent, and learns new tasks with ease.
Mindful breeders and dedicated trainers deliver high performance dogs. There is no doubt after our recent Schutzhund competition that we have an exceptional dog.

Ron and Tammy, I just want to add when Bronco my first Giant that I ever had and when he was getting older (about 10 years old) That was from your B litter) and thinking of wanting a second dog that he could help raise a bit I talked with my vet about it. I remember my vet praising how sound Bronco was and saying why don’t you get in touch with who you got him from he is an excellent dog. I was so happy to find you still working and breeding giants and that I got to have Jinx know Bronco who lived to about 13 and was still hiking strong (4 miles/ 1,500 ft elev) until 3 months before he passed. I feel so lucky! Thank you!

There is, in my opinion, no better breeder and higher standard going. I have had two giants from this kennel and one is a beauty at ten with great health. The best thing I can say is the time and care Tammy and Ron take to home and — in rare and unfortunate instances—rehome their dogs. Also the amount of time they make available for questions and support in training these intelligent and stubborn yet sooky love dogs is beyond expectations.

This is one of the best trainers ever!!!! We really wish their were more trainers like Ron. We moved away, got a new puppy and can not find any trainer that even compares to Leidenschaft Kennels. After 11 years of being away from New Brunswick, i still talk and tell ever one there is no other place that is as good as the trainer we had. i tell everyone that moves to New Brunswick to look you up, if they get a new dog.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Leidenschaft going back 15 years. I know that they have always put their dogs first.
Lisa Gaudet Oo I know I’m new, but I’d love to add to a testimonial. My partner and I were in search of a dog to add to our family. I wanted a large dog, my partner needed a low shedding dog. My partner had a miniature schnauzer in the past who did not shed so we started to research. We found Leidenschaft kennels online and located only a few hours from our home. Through many discussions and assessments of our family, home environment, and reasons for wanting a dog, we passed the test! We received a pup from Leidenschaft “k” litter. I have grown up with dogs and have been with lots of friends and family members with dogs who I have experienced the puppy stage with. Our k litter pup “Khaos” is the most well behaved pup I’ve ever experienced. He’s quiet and loving, will sit for an hour while being brushed, will retrieve the ball all day, walks well on a line, and is well on his way to being house trained. He doesn’t mind his crate and learned very quickly to sit and wait patiently for his food or treats. I had him to the vet for a wellness check and she was very impressed with his temperament and demeanor. So much so that I had vet assistants frequenting the exam room stating they were told by the vet to come see this great boy!! His health check was good – no issues. I cannot express how happy I am that our family found Leidenschaft kennels. This is the first giant we have had, but certainly won’t be our last. And when the time comes I can only hope Leidenschaft is still breeding!!! Much love to you guys for helping to bring, who I know will be one of my best friends, into this world!! ❤

“Saki” (F litter von der Leidenschaft) is still playful and full of energy. Furthermore, he is very healthy and has never been sick in nearly 10 years! He is the best dog we ever had, Gilles Lafrance, retired R.C.M.P. Officer
