Ron Murray has a history in the dog world dating back to 1978. His beginnings with Triple X Security
(now
Bill Grimmer Man Dog Teams) has given him a solid foundation using dogs in security and police work.
As Manager for the Nova Scotia division of Bill Grimmer Man Dog Teams from 1980-1985, Ron has had a lot of experience with many aspects of a dog security business including all training of the dogs and men. Also in 1980 Ron began developing a program designed to produce well behaved members of canine society. Educating dog owners is the key here! Ron's training experience also includes training scenting and tracking dogs, personal protection dogs, and dogs for film and television. To this day Ron's style of training combined with good humor and patience has changed the lives of many dogs and their owners. Although Ron and Tammy closed their training facility in 2006, Ron continues to offer private lessons, see Training for more details.
Update Feb. 2005!
As well as running daily operations at his busy kennel and training school, Ron is also one of the founding members of The Sirius Working Dog Association, a DVG based Schutzhund club, started in October 2003. Ron was elected as Training Director for the club due to his extensive back ground in obedience, tracking and bitework. Ron participated at a Helper Seminar in Maryland in November 2004, and was certified the same weekend. In December 2004, Ron wrote the exam for Training Director and has since been certified as an official Training Director by the DVG. Ron continues to assist and encourage all club members to participate in the sport of Schutzhund to their fullest abilities. See more details on Ron's member page of the club website.

Tammy Dempsey began her training with Ron Murray in 1994. Starting out handling any dog she could get her hands on, eventually she began to assist in the training of obedience classes. As her experience increases so too does her dedication to the education of dog owners. Tammy has successfully completed an Animal Sciences course which she uses to assist people in making healthy choices for their dogs. She has produced many newsletters including training tips, health information and legal aspects of dog ownership, as well she does the writing, photography work and continuous updates on this website. Tammy continues to assist Ron in obedience classes as well as training puppy classes. She particularly enjoys tracking and scent work. She has trained her own dog Raven to a T.D.X. title as well as having her certified as an RCMP Search and Rescue Dog in April 2000!
Update Feb. 2005!
As well as running daily operations at her busy kennel and training school, Tammy is also one of the founding members of The Sirius Working Dog Association, a DVG based Schutzhund club, started in October 2003. Tammy was elected as Secretary for the club due to her business experience and administrative skills. Tammy also maintains the club's website. In 2006 Tammy was elected Secretay for KG North. See more details on Tammy's member page of the club website.

Ron and Tammy formed a partnership in August 1995 and moved from Nova Scotia to British Columbia where they began West Haven Canine Academy. In June 2001 after 6 1/2 years of fighting local politics, Ron and Tammy finally gave in to government mismanagement and closed their business. West Haven Canine Academy itself was very successful and is missed by many of their 850+ students! See what they had to say about West Haven at the their Testimonial Page!
In February of 2002 Ron and Tammy moved to New Brunswick. Their training academy was located in the Fredericton Industrial Park and operated there for four years. The new business was operated under the name that speaks volumes about their love for the business; "Leidenschaft Kennels". Leidenschaft is the German word for passion! The name West Haven Canine Academy will be dropped completely for business purposes, however it will be remembered fondly for the great people and dogs that made up the heart of the academy!

West Haven Canine Academy began as a dog training school in September of 1995, in Victoria, BC. The business moved to the Fredericton area of New Brunswick and changed it's name to Leidenschaft Kennels in February of 2002, it operated there for four years. In March of 2006 after almost 11 years of working this business as a couple, Ron and Tammy made the heartbreaking decision to close it. Many reasons factored into the decision, however the main one was Tammy's decision to go to university. The demands of the business are too great for just one person, so on May 28th, 2006 Leidenschaft Kennels the training and boarding facility closed to become just Leidenschaft Kennels the breeding kennel.

Our Philosophies:

Leidenschaft Kennels: The word Leidenschaft is German for PASSION! We believe this says it all about our dogs! They are our passion and we breed them to have passion! A passion for life and all the great things a dogs life should include! Challenges, Fun, Safety and Love!
When it comes to our breeding programs, there are no compromises. If a dog or bitch does not pass ALL health tests then it will NOT be bred. Period! We breed for heart, determination and drive. A working dog requires a sound and healthy pedigree, we will not jeopardize this by indiscriminate breeding practices. Working homes are desired for our puppies and adult dogs. Our bloodlines are desirable for sport and civil applications, i.e.. Schutzhund, French Ring, personal protection, Security and Police work, Search and Rescue, etc. They also make loyal, loving family pets. We occasionally have puppies and adults available, please check our For Sale page for more details.
